The theology. Without Orthodoxy I couldn't understand how Jesus could be God when all through the bible he's clearly and explicitly calling on God, with some verses that really troubled me. I was lost in the evangelical church with questions and doubts nobody could ever answer in a way I understood why. Orthodox theology made me understand Christ and the trinity. It made me a warrior for the Lord. Thank you to the God man for Orthodoxy ☦️

Watching my extremely autistic son thrive at church. The joy it brings him, and seeing him want to go every chance he gets. He venerates the icons before anyone even tells him to. He's constantly crossing himself and kisses my crucifix when he gets overwhelmed while we're out running errands. His immediate understanding and love for Christ tells me I'm on the right path. ☦️

The beauty of it all, from the liturgy to the theology. The beauty of the people. The way children are treated as part of the church, not an add-on to be dropped once they outgrow "Children's Church"... The peace it gives me and how I look forward to the next Liturgy...

I crashed my car last year right before Thanksgiving, my 4th concussion in 3 years. I started asking big questions about everything I knew. Watched a documentary about the Tsar and the mass persecution of Orthodox Christians that followed. Then I began wondering what the Early Christians believed, read some church Fathers and the Didache, and was left with a decision to make. Found a church down the street from me that just happened to be funded by the Tsar himself. I'd say in the end it was the blood of the Martyrs that drew me in.

When I was Roman Catholic, I loved apologetics debates. To deepen my knowledge of the faith I started reading the Church Fathers and studying Church history itself, without doctrinal bias or a filtered lens. That's how I found the Orthodox Church. I realized I wasn't necessarily doing things wrong, but I could be doing so much better. I needed that mystical depth, that spiritual emptiness nothing and no one could fill except this path.

I'm not Orthodox, just a Christian born into the RC church. There's something beautiful and soothing there that I don't find in Roman Catholicism, but I couldn't say exactly what. Maybe it's just that I know the negative sides of Catholicism while ignoring the ones of Orthodoxy, so I idealize it.
