Good, the Pope is meeting with them to clarify the error in their perceived and alleged scandalous application and administering of pastoral blessings. Glad the Catholic Church keeps seeking remediation instead of immediately cutting communion with any Bishop and cleric who strays 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

you mean like how they took time with the SSPX? Pope Francis appointed a ton of liberal priests sadly. Not sure why the LGBT are getting special treatment.

    • opinion#687

Can't tag you but I'll still reply this once. SSPX defied canon law. Just like the "Old Catholics" did. Cry about it and stay prideful or roll up your sleeves and sow the right seeds. There are roughly a dozen "traditionalist" orders and societies in the Roman rite... I have found no shortage of "TLM" in any of the 7 states I frequently travel to, and those traditional liturgies are celebrated by humble and obedient priests in communion with their prelate and the Holy See. On priests sinning... Donatism was condemned in the 4th century. I know a man in seminary right now who was a playboy in his younger years... that sexual sin was just as abhorrent in God's eyes... how joyful an occasion for such a man to suffer and strive for holiness, transforming flesh AND spirit to achieve sanctification and die to himself daily for Christ.

you do know we have a right to disagree with what the church says right? And to call out false teachers right? We have a right to question what they do. And speaking of SSPX, why don't you look up who wrote "Mystical Passion: Spirituality and Sensuality", "Heal Me with Your Mouth: The Art of Kissing". It was Cardinal Fernández who oversaw the SSPX issue. These priests should be gone.

To disagree and to disobey are two different things and we owe charity and obedience to the Pope. As for Cardinal Fernández, I may misremember but he later took some step back from some of the things he wrote, and even if he didn't, and even if he is actually wrong, wouldn't it be much better for him to understand his error and repent rather than be gone?

It would do you well to remember he is not simply a delegate of Christ, a priest... but a Bishop. Who by his own office and ordering is counted among the successors of the Apostles. Who has the Apostolic mandate. There are great Saints in our canon (Doctors of the Church even) who were sexually disordered at one point in their lives, and many more who, acting in their official capacities, commissioned sexually explicit letters and documents on human sexuality and the nuptial act. Even theology of the body could be misrepresented as pornographic if used in the wrong and disordered sense... As a traditionalist Catholic myself, I will pray for you. May our Lady's intercession increase you in faith, hope, and most of all charity. Pater...Ave...Gloria.

🥱 their excommunication was automatic. Just like having an abortion incurs an automatic excommunication. Excommunication doesn't excuse a Catholic from their obligations either, they must attend Mass and live the life accordingly, and seek greater reconciliation with the physical and mystical body of Christ. Context: An episcopal consecration without the required papal mandate is gravely illicit and a serious violation of Church discipline and communion. The consecrating bishop and the one consecrated incur automatic excommunication reserved to the Apostolic See.

Did Catholics the world over point their finger at the Orthodox Church and declare it "over" when communists infiltrated it and statist talking points were preached from the pulpit throughout the USSR era? A lot of "orthodox Christians" here need to reread Matthew 5:22.

The church persisted and never relented, it persists today. Rome keeps innovating with new nonsense weekly. The very argument you're making is the same one Augustine condemned in City of God.

    • opinion#693

specifically what argument? I think you're missing the point of my post entirely.

    • opinion#694

but it's a systemic issue for you, not for us. Our popes aren't supreme in all matters of morality. Yours claims to be, by your own documentation. So sergianism was never a systemic issue, it was one patriarch committing heresy.

Orthodox doesn't have popes. It wasn't one church leader in Moscow, it was whole sections of the Orthodox Church across multiple nations. And again, my point stands: nobody holds the faithful responsible as a group for the unchristian actions of their leadership. Catholics aren't gloating at the orthodox like heathens as far as I know, so why are you? Is your heart and faith so pitiful that you attack fellow Christians over bad leadership? Bad leadership that has happened in both religions throughout history. Especially when the same plague has infected the Catholic Church just like the orthodox one. It says something about your character, or lack of it, and makes you and the religion you claim to represent look ignorant. Obsessed with your "team" instead of the game. It's actually the opposite of what I see in Catholicism: devout flocks with corrupt leadership. Meanwhile the current orthodox leadership is solid while a growing share of their flock treats the religion as basically just Sunday goy ball under a different name. I wonder what Mar Mari Emmanuel, to use a famous example, would think of his flock pointing, laughing, and calling their brothers "what a fool!"?

Divine Judgement is coming for Rome!! I believe Pope Leo XIV is the final Pope and a Trojan horse for the Vatican fulfilling prophecies about a false leader who "deceives the nations" into building a single global faith initiative (One World Religion) 👉☪️. Back in 2025, Pope Leo hinted at "merging of religions" or interfaith unions saying: "Now is the time for dialogue and building bridges • True unity is unity in faith • A common path in the spirit of human fraternity", pointing to ties with Judaism, Islam, and other traditions. As an Eastern Orthodox Christian, this is Anathema - the fallacy of religious unity is a logical error of assuming all major religions share the same core moral truths, worship the same deity, or lead to the same spiritual destination. The Eastern Orthodox Church is the true word of Christ, traceable all the way back to the Apostles. Founded by Christ on Pentecost. Preached by the Apostles. Kept unchanged by the saints and still unchanged 2,000 years later.

I never saw politics in the Catholic Church or any competition between Catholics and other religions in my first 17 years going to Mass, but after 47 years away from it, I really miss the "old Mass", and I mean right when Novus Ordo was being introduced and the Latin Mass was being removed at most churches. You know, I really miss what became the "Guitar Mass", not that I had any say in it. I was mostly neutral. But what I did like was the togetherness among the congregation at Mass. I don't remember the infighting I see now between the Traditional and NO sides. I remember learning the "Peace Be With You!", "And Also With You" greeting and smiling at each other, and parents and kids laughing when one of them used the wrong hand to shake with, or the kids shook hands with nearly the whole pew in front and behind. Now, after 2 months back, I keep hearing about politics creeping between the congregations, and I'm guilty of it too, taking sides with unbridled passion and sometimes anger!

Brother, there are good popes and bad popes, since they are HUMAN they are still capable of sin, but that doesn't negate the divine institution of the Church itself. The Catholic Church is still One after 2000 years (no denominations, unlike protestantism which sprouted thousands of denominations in just 500 years! 🤯 think about that). The Catholic Church is still united in One Communion because not everything is about the pope, the ultimate source of our unity is Christ and the Holy Spirit, it doesn't depend on the personal holiness of any individual but on God's divine plan of grace. Her teachings have stayed True and Consistent for 2000 years. Even the fires of hell won't prevail against the Catholic Church.
