Prophet Joel's Warning and Promise of the Holy Spirit
The post presents the life and prophecies of the Holy Prophet Joel, the second of the Twelve Minor Prophets. He was the son of Pethuel from the tribe of Reuben and lived approximately 800 years before Christ. Joel warned the Israelites of suffering and destruction due to their sins, foretelling the Babylonian captivity.
He called the people to fasting, repentance, and heartfelt prayer, urging priests to weep between the porch and the altar. Among his greatest prophecies was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon God's people, fulfilled at Pentecost when the Spirit descended on the Apostles. The Apostle Peter cited Joel's prophecy in Acts 2:16-21. Joel also prophesied the Final Judgment and the future glory of the Church. The post concludes with a prayer to the prophet.
