Saint Kyriakos the Hermit: 109 years of desert asceticism

Despite his advanced years and strict ascetic life, he remained physically strong.

At times he survived for years eating only wild herbs found in the desert. He was a fearless defender of the Orthodox Faith, boldly exposing heresies and remaining faithful to the truth of Christ. He once said of himself: "The sun never saw me eating, nor angry with anyone."

His monks followed a strict rule, eating only once each day after sunset. God glorified His faithful servant with the gift of miracles, healing the sick, comforting the sorrowful, and strengthening countless souls through his holy example.
