Metropolitan Athanasios: Salvation Comes from God's Grace, Not Ourselves
Metropolitan Athanasios of Lemesos teaches that salvation does not originate from human effort but primarily from the grace of God. He explains that whoever desires salvation must turn to God as Savior, ask for salvation, and God grants it. Citing the Fathers, he says: "Give your intention to God and you receive power from Him."
The Metropolitan offers a concrete prayer: "My God, I want to be saved. I may not be able, or may not want as much as I should, but I want to be saved. Since I want to be saved, I ask You for the power to save me."
