40,000 followers in 27 days: pride and God's work

What the video says

The speaker announces reaching 40,000 followers in 27 days and over 4.2 million views, and states that this achievement is not due to personal talent but entirely about what God is doing in his life. He identifies pride as his biggest struggle and the first sin in the world.

He explains that pride caused the devil's fall and was the temptation offered to Adam and Eve, and cites St. John Climacus who calls pride a denial of God because it claims self-sufficiency. He notes that pride hides and can grow from good deeds like prayer, fasting, and helping others.

To fight pride, he recommends humility: thanking God for every good thing, accepting corrections without defense, going to confession, and remembering that without God one could fall like anyone else. He ends by asking viewers where pride shows up in their lives today.

I always pray that God keeps my heart humble, that He reminds me every blessing comes from Him, and that real greatness isn't about being above anyone but about treating everyone with kindness, love and respect. I ask God to give me the wisdom to see my mistakes, the courage to admit when I'm wrong, and the grace to learn from others. "Dear Lord, let my heart always be greater than my ego, my gratitude greater than my pride, and my love greater than my need to be right."

Amen! Social media fascinates me because we can either turn it into fuel for our pride or let it humble us. Follower numbers, nasty comments, a video I worked hard on getting few views, watching others grow faster than me... every one of those is a little test of my pride and a chance to become more humble. I fail those tests more often than I'd like, but I ask God for his help, and I'll pray for you too.

I converted 20 years ago, and thanks to your videos I'm starting to understand the small things, the stuff you never think to ask about but still wonder why we do it. My husband was born Orthodox, so whenever I ask why, he just says... it's what I've always done... Now I can actually explain the why to him. We're both learning so much. Thank you.

I also think a big part of your success comes down to who you are, especially how you connect and talk with people on social media. Someone else could do exactly what you're doing and still not get the same results or the same following. Why? Because it's not only the content. It's the person behind it, their personality, their approach, how they communicate, even how they carry themselves. So yes, I truly believe God, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, has a hand in your success. But I also believe you make a difference through the way you reach people. Something about how you do it clicks with your audience, and not everyone can copy that. Keep it up, and may God keep blessing you and your journey!

Pride creeps in everywhere, like you said, even during prayer or while keeping the prayer rule. Lately it keeps coming up for me in my Jesus prayer. Sometimes I feel I have to start some of them over because they got spoiled by thoughts like - look what I did - or - only this many left - and I know those thoughts aren't from God. Sometimes I just stop and say a whole Jesus prayer asking forgiveness for my pride, almost every time one of those thoughts crosses my mind.
