Weekly Orthodox Bible Study with Fr. Eugen Pentiuc Begins Oct 15

Rev. Dr. Eugen J. Pentiuc, Dean of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and Distinguished Professor of Biblical Studies, will lead a weekly Bible study every Thursday at 7:00 PM Eastern Time via Zoom beginning October 15, 2026. The study is offered through The Scriptorium Initiative at Holy Cross, a program funded by a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.
It is open to all — seminarians, clergy, lay faithful, seekers, and anyone interested in deepening their understanding of how Scripture is read, interpreted, and lived within the Orthodox Christian tradition. The sessions aim to provide accessible, scholarly, and spiritually grounded engagement with the biblical text, reflecting the patristic and liturgical hermeneutics that shape Orthodox exegesis.
Participants may register and find further details, including the recurring Zoom link, at www.thescriptoriuminitiative.org. The initiative represents a sustained effort to make rigorous biblical scholarship available to a broad audience while remaining rooted in the worshipping life of the Church. No prior theological training is required, and the format encourages both learning and communal reflection.
This offering continues Holy Cross’s commitment to theological education that serves the Church and the wider world.
